🛼 Want to Skate and hit your friends? We’ll Teach You!

If you’re interested in becoming a skater, we’ve got you covered. You don’t need any previous skating experience—just a willingness to learn and a desire to be part of a supportive, hard-working crew.

As a skater, you’ll become deeply connected to the derby world. You’ll learn the ins and outs of gameplay, including officiating, scoring, and penalty calling. Skaters are the heart of the league, and we’ll help you build confidence, skill, and strength every step of the way.

Our next Freshmeat session for new skaters and skating officials kicks off in August, and we’d love to see you there! Reach out for details!

🎯 Interested in Officiating? Refs Keep Us Rolling!

Hitting your friends not really your thing? No worries at all! Another awesome way to join GFRD is as a referee or non-skating official (NSO). On skates, or off, you can have huge impact on the game! Officials are critical to every game—we rely on them to track points, call penalties, and keep gameplay safe and fair.

Skating Officials (Refs): If you’re interested in learning the rules of derby and want to be on wheels during the action, we’ll teach you everything you need to know.
Non-Skating Officials (NSOs): These volunteers handle scorekeeping, penalty tracking, and timekeeping—no skates required! Plus you get to wear all black!

🙌 Volunteers Make the Magic Happen

Volunteers are the behind-the-scenes heroes of our league. From helping with events and scrimmages to supporting us during bouts and fundraisers, volunteers are always in motion (sometimes literally, sometimes not). You don’t have to skate, and you don’t need any prior experience—just bring your energy and willingness to help, and join our wonderful community!

You can join as a volunteer or NSO any time, and we are always grateful for new faces who want to contribute to the success of our events and community.

📣 Be a Fan—Yes, That Counts Too!

Not looking to skate or volunteer (yet)? No problem—you can still be a huge part of the league as a fan!

Come to our games – Bring your friends, cheer loud, and watch the action-packed roller derby bouts unfold.
Rep the Fleet – Grab some of our awesome merch and wear it with pride around town. Skaters even have their own merch, if you have a favorite skater, rep them!
Follow & Share – Connect with us on social media to stay in the loop and help spread the word.
Bring the energy – Your cheers and support from the stands make all the difference. Trust us—skaters feel that love.
