Meet Fancy Spice (#905) — jammer, utility player, sparkly ✨ chaos engine, and one of the fiercest forces on wheels with Ghost Fleet Roller Derby.
Cordelia Trinity Simone Earley (they/them) has been lacing up for nearly four years, but their skating story started much earlier. “I was seven when I first put on skates,” they told us. “I hadn’t skated since I was 14, and then one day, I headed back to the rink. Later, I saw a post about a team forming—and I jumped at it.”
That leap of faith landed them squarely on the new league in town—the Ghost Fleet Roller Derby, where they bring their signature mix of strategy and spice to the track. Their derby name, bestowed upon them by teammate Buckroe Bae, came from their flair, fast fancy feet, and extra seasoning during jams. “Fancy Spice” stuck—and we can’t imagine calling them anything else.
Life as a Jammer
"Jammer, obvs!” they say, when asked about their favorite position. “The thrill of speed gets my adrenaline pumping. I love being a rolling bullet.”
Their derby style? "Strategic-aggression on a scale from 100 to 9000. (DBZ fans, you get it.)” Their favorite move? One word: CHAOS.
But it's not all mayhem and memes. Fancy's proudest moment came during a straightaway jump they landed mid-bout. “It was a spur-of-the-moment move I didn’t think I could pull off.” Spoiler alert: they did.
Calm, Confidence, and Glitter
Off the track, Fancy balances life with breathing exercises, glitter, a solid visored helmet, and a whole lot of sass. “I graduated from the University of Sarcasm—with honors. Masters in Sassiness.”

They're also an avid gamer and IT student, currently prepping for fall classes at TCC with their sights set on Hampton University or Norfolk State. And when they're not flying around the track, they’re restoring old skates to their former glory. (We told you they’re utility.)
Community and Courage
When asked what makes Ghost Fleet special, Fancy doesn’t hesitate.
“GFRD allowed me to finally work up the courage to come out as Trans to my mother and refreshed my skin to the person I am today.”
They shout out Chilli Con Carnage, a recently retired GFRD player—“I miss you and send you lots of love and hugs!”—and name Miracle Whips as a major source of derby inspiration: “Her fluid style and agility inspire me to use the maximum amount of flexibility while maintaining grace.”
Their dream bout? "a Penalty Free Game." (We’ll take it.)
Their go-to hype song? Velvet Revolver’s Headspace.
Their advice to new skaters?
“Don’t ever let your doubts dissuade you. Derby might seem intimidating, but every bit of practice helps you step forward.”
From chaos to clarity, Fancy Spice keeps things bold, fast💨, and beautifully real. We’re lucky to have them as part of the fleet.
